Amenities include tennis courts, a swim-competition-sized swimming pool, clubhouse, community green space, and Turtle Lake, which has boat access.

The neighborhood is sandwiched between Lower Roswell Road and Shadowlawn Road, just off Paper Mill Road.

They are part of the Cobb County School District: Sope Creek Elementary is within walking distance; East Cobb Middle School and Wheeler High School are both about 2.5 miles away.

First developed in the early 1970s, Somerset is now filled with mature trees and landscaping providing seasonal beauty all year round; both modern and traditional architectural home styles; and a wide mix of residents, from young families to retirees.

History

the original sales brochure was distributed by George Latham Builder, Inc., developer of the Somerset Subdivision. The description still seems fitting. Originally, there were 141 homes in Somerset. Today it includes 324 properties, with architecturally diverse and attractive homes.

The original subdivision already included the pool and tennis facilities, as well as the beloved Turtle Lake. Some years later the Somerset Homeowners’ Association approved a capital campaign to raise the funds to build the Clubhouse. Through the generosity of the dedicated Somerset residents, the Somerset Clubhouse and became a Marietta, GA neighborhood opened in 2003.

Originally, the only access to Somerset was from Shadowlawn Road at the Somerset Trace entrance. Later, as the development expanded, Cobb County opened the entrance from Lower Roswell Road at West Somerset Court.

Pool

Pool season at Somerset is a great way for families to connect and enjoy the hot, summer months, which runs from mid-May through mid-September. Somerset welcomes residents and non-residents to enjoy the pool/tennis and all of the perks of membership. EZ Marietta Junk Removal

Somerset’s Pool, renovated in 2020, is a swim-league-competition-size saltwater pool, surrounded by plenty of lounge chairs and tables, grills, TV, and right next to the tennis courts. The pool/tennis social chairs host several social events — whether it’s a Memorial Day BBQ, Fourth of July cookout, or a Labor Day corn hole competition — throughout the season.

If you are new to Somerset or the nearby area, you should highly consider joining the club to meet your neighbors and make new friends.

Lake

The lake is 2.28 acres. The average depth is almost one foot with a range of .05 to 3.33 feet and nearly 11,000 cubic meters of water volume.
